Bri smiled watching Jeremy and Kinon, her eyes dancing with amusement. She twisted onto her back, grabbing the duffel bag and brought it over to Jeremy, her bare feet padding softly over the dirt on the cave floor. She set the bag beside him before crouching next to it, unzipping the top. "Here ya go." She frowned at her handiwork, a rather haphazardly organized array of items. She knew enough not to put heavy objects on top of breakables, having arranged the food near the food, etc. She watched Jeremy for another moment before deciding it'd be better to get out of his way and skipped back over to flop down between Knucker and Kinon, turning over on her back, propping her feet up on Knucker's side to gaze at the ceiling, her hair fanned out behind her.
"Where's Harry Potter when you need him?" She sighed, thinking of the well-worn copy of The Sorcerers Stone she'd left in her apartment with Sarah and Tammi. It would have been a nice way to spend an evening, curled up against Knucker with a book.
"Hogwarts?" Knucker suggested.
"Soon we must all make the choice between what is right and what is easy." Bri mimicked in a deep voice. "Betcha can't get that one." She challenged Knucker in her normal quiet soprano, referring to a game they had played since she found out that he had spent most of the time when he was living in her house watching movies when the humans were asleep, or at work.
"The Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore to Harry."
"Is there a movie in my house you didn't watch?" Bri asked, impressed.
"Your fathers 'The Complete Three Stooges Collection and that home video your mother took of you being born."
"Knucker!" Bri exclaimed, laughing. "How does a dragon get a dvd in the player anyway?"
"A long tail and lots of talent."
Bri giggled again, twisting around to tuck herself between Knucker's tail, wrapped around his body, and his side, curling her legs and resting her chin on her knee's, watching Jeremy pack.
"Do you want me to make dinner or anything?" She offered, feeling unhelpful. "And what's the plan for tomorrow? Start making our way towards Florida?"

He was still organizing when Bri came over and dumped the bag beside his work area. It was only when Bri went back to lay on the ground with Knucker and Kinon that he realized that both dragons and humanoids had evacuated his side of the cave. Jeremy glanced over his shoulder before turning around to stare at them. Knucker, leaning against the wall with Bri's feet propped up against his side and then Kinon was curled like a ball python close by, tail feathers twitching near Brianna's side.
"Right, thanks." and he turned to the duffel bag, the badly packed... duffel bag. Jeremy could only sigh in defeat as he started pulling out the boxes off the top and the heavier items from the bottom. At least she knew the basics of packing right? As he s tarted to pack Bri's duffel full of the lighter items. The boxes of crackers, cookies and the candy bars that they had purchased. He tossed in a couple of cans under it all. He looked through what was left before deciding that he had packed in all that he could into her pack. He'd leave the heavier stuff to Kinon.
They started to turn the conversation towards Harry Potter and Jeremy chuckled to himself. He'd read the first two books but had never actually seen the movies. He picked up the bag and walked it over to Brianna where he dumped it beside her head. He leaned down over her, hair falling in his eyes slightly as he peered over her. "Hey now, no spoilers for those of us who haven't read that far, okay?"
As he flashed her a grin and turned the conversation took a turn for the worse. "Err... Let's... not talk about birthing video's..." he called over his shoulder, rather uncomfortably. His laugh echoed in the cave, a rather nervous and unsure laugh as Jer bent to pack the two bags that Kinon would carry strapped to his wings. He was half done with the bags when Brianna offered too cook dinner. "Hey, sure why not? That'd be great. Err... pick whatever you want from the canned goods I haven't packed yet." he nodded over at the large pile of cans as he placed a couple of pots into Kinon's bags.
Kinon lifted his head from his coiled body and stared at Jeremy. "You have an awful lot of bags for just you two humans." the mutter was soft and his bonded looked up with a lifted eyebrow. "Well that's because we humans aren't going to carry all these bags. These two." he motioned to the two bags he was carefully packing. "Are going to be carried by you, Kinon."
"....." Kinon laid his head back down on his coils with a snort. "Yeah, because I'm going to carry them all the way across the ocean in my claws..." was the sarcastic reply.
((If we need anything, pull it out of your ass kay? I'm tired of remembering what they forgot to get at stores... so... *sighs*))

Bri returned Jeremy's smile as he leaned over her, her heart fluttering oddly in her chest. Rolling to her feet, she squashed the feeling in her chest like a heavyweight boxer smashing one of those strength games at the fair. Padding over to the bags, she pawed around inside them for a moment. "Allow me to lighten your burden Kinon." She grinned at the dragon.
"I suppose a fire would smoke us out of the cave..." She mused, then paused. "Although, I did read somewhere that you can use dry wood to cook and it doesn't make much smoke." She smiled, bouncing outside of the cave to collect the wood she would need, larger pieces, sticks and kindling, making sure that it was all dry enough to not cause a lot of smoke. Or at least, that was the theory.
Returning several minutes later with her spoils she deposited the wood in the mouth of the cave, frowning at the sticks. "Camp fire." She mused, thinking of the campfires her dad had made, an easy light log and some wadded up newspaper. She pondered it for another minute before deciding that it shouldn't be to hard to light wood on fire and arranged it into a basic pile, big wood, smaller sticks and kindling on top.
Crossing back to the cave where the others were, she pawed around in her bag and pulled out two cans of food, one of baked beans and another of peaches. She frowned at the cans for a moment, "My mother would screech if she could see this meal." She gave a small laugh and crossed back to the fire, fishing a can opener, a couple of bowls and spoons and a lighter from Jeremy's packs as she passed.
Pausing, she frowned at her collection. "Umm... How does one build a camp fire." She sighed, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks.
"Beats me, I'm a water dragon." Knucker drawled from his position at the rear of the cave.
Bri sighed at him, "You're not helpful." She informed him, poking the pile with her bare toe. She sighed and crossed back to the bags, putting the beans back where she had found them and grabbing crackers and peanut butter out of their bags. "HA! Who needs a fire?" She exclaimed gleefully.
"You go girl!" Knucker teased.
Bri frowned at him, blushing again as she realized that she had said her last thought aloud. Shaking her head, she sat cross legged near Jeremy, Kinon and Knucker, turning her back to her pathetic pile of sticks. Grabbing the can opener, she twisted it around the rim of the can of peaches, splitting the contents into two bowls, sticking a spoon in each of the bowls. Then, pulling a plate towards herself, she spread a pile of ritz crackers around the edge, sticking the peanut butter between them. "There." She declared, eying the meal sadly.
"Ah, for the days of toaster waffles and top ramen." Knucker declared with mock tragedy.
"Not helping."

Jeremy laughed at Kinon's sarcasm "Not your claws, your wings." Jeremy continued to pack the two bags and Kinon snorted. "I can't grab things with my wings ." he pointed out, poking a claw in the direction of Jeremy's packing. "Don't be stupid. These are being slung around your wings." Jeremy sounded pleased with this idea, rather proud of himself. He paused in his packing however and both Jeremy and Kinon turned their heads to look at Bri.
Kinon's expression was amused while Jeremy's was surprised and somewhat horrified. "You've never made a campfire before?" he asked with a shake of his head. Jeremy watched Brianna for a moment. He was about to stand up and do it for her when her studden announcement startled him. "HA! Who needs a fire?"
Before he could say anything Brianna was already working on opening a jar of peanut butter, peaches and a package of Ritz. And when she set it up between them, looking quite proud of herself (although she had a sad look about her eyes) he couldn't help the laughter that bubbled up.
"Oh... Oh my God!" he choked out. "T-that's not quite what I was expecting. I thought we might have the perishables tonight but..." Jer coughed trying to get his laughter under control as Kinon's amusement showed in his sky blue eyes.
"Even as a dragon I know that peaches, peanut butter and crackers aren't the best dinner. You need protein in there somewhere, meat... or fish or something of that sort." Jeremy had the distinct impression that if Kinon were human he would have reached over and ruffled Brianna's hair in a fatherly fashion. This mental image only caused him to chuckle again, shaking his head.

Bri listened to Knucker's laughter echo around her head with an inward sigh. She watched Jeremy react, shaking her head with mock anger. "If you can cook so well you do it!" She teased, secretly glad that they wouldn't have to eat her cooking. It usually didn't go over well, she had really just offered more to be polite than anything else. Bri frowned at the dragons, waving her spoon threateningly at Kinon, "I'll have you know Peanut Butter comes from peanuts, that's protein. "She turned the jar around, inspecting the label. "A whole seven grams."
Mmm...doesn't count. I'll catch us a couple of fish if you promise not to do the cooking. Knucker flicked the fan on his tail at Bri affectionately, half knocking her over.
"Peanut butter and crackers are a fine dinner." Bri half protested, blushing and focusing her attention on the fraying edge of the bottom of the jeans half-sticking out of her bag after her search through them for food.
"You spend too much time around college kids, and they typically wash their crackers down with beer."
Bri straightened up, sticking her tongue out at Knucker before turning back to Jeremy. "No," She replied, answering his earlier question, "Whenever I went camping with my family we used a camp stove or something, you know, click on the gas, light it with a lighter, presto! I'm not real good with outdoorsy type things..." She admitted. She wasn't good with outdoorsy things at all, she realized, butterflies erupting in her stomach, what was she going to do? They were going to be spending the next few days, weeks even, roaming around the countryside on some obscure mission set to them by a sparkling gold velociraptor with bat wings and she couldn't even start a bloody campfire? Her stomach sank like it was weighted with lead, but she smiled at Jeremy. Knucker felt her worry and self-doubt echo across their mental link and fixed her with a glare that promised that they would talk about her confidence issues later.

Now Jer laughed out loud again and pushed himself to his feet. "No, no it's fine, this is fine. I'll make us something else as well. We have lunch meat that we can put on the crackers. We need to eat that tonight. And Jer walked over to one of the plastic bags and pulled out a package of ham and a package of turkey. "There we are. I'll contribute this." He tossed them to the cave floor beside Brianna's contributions. Jeremy flashed her a girn as he plopped down across from her. "I'll finish packing later. he stated, reaching out to grab a cracker. Instead of eating it he tossed it over his shoulder. "Catch." Kinon snapped up the cracker with a snort.
"Hardly even a crumb" He said, chewing once and swallowing. "Maybe a few dozen of those boxes would be a small mouthful." He said with a chuckle. Kinon stretched his neck and then flicked his tail. "If we leave tomorrow we'll need to be careful. I have a feeling it will be rough flying weather." the statement was spoken suddenly after a few minutes of silence. Jeremy looked back to his dragon and grimaced. "How bad? Like rain shower bad, thunder storm bad or hurricane bad?"
"...Thunderstorm... I feel electricity in the air..." Kinon answered with a yawn, showing rows of sharp teeth.

Bri felt the tension weighing her down melt away as Jeremy tossed the lunch meat onto the pile. "We should open a restaurant." She teased him as she sandwiched a slice of ham between two crackers, devouring it in two bites. She grabbed her bowl of peaches, smiling at Jeremy before digging in, her eyes dancing. She turned so she could lean against Knucker, propping herself against the crook of his arm where the limb met his chest, her red hair splayed out over his shoulder, contrasting sharply with his blue scales.
Relaxing, she took another bite of the peaches, enjoying the flavor on her tongue. It reminded her of summers at home eating her mother's special peach pie. A sudden pinch of homesickness twisted mercilessly in her gut, and she wondered when she'd go home again. If she'd ever go home again. This whole endeavor sounded very dangerous. But such depressing thoughts were short lived in the current atmosphere. She glanced over at Jeremy and Kinon, watching as he tosses a cracker to Kinon, teasingly applauding the other dragon when he caught it.
The weather outside was cold, overcast and slightly breezy. She could see how weather like this could turn into a storm, given the time. At first the idea of a storm excited her, she loved rain. The water tumbling out of the sky left her slightly breathless, her body unsure of whether it should be breathing air or water. The rain was like a little slice of the ocean on land. In the next minute, however, she realized that with storms came wind. She pressed closer to Knucker's side, eying Kinon with concern. "Shouldn't we stay here if there's a storm?" She suggested, she knew she and Knucker would be fine if they went far enough below the waves, cold but fine. It was Jeremy and Kinon she worried for, the image of them falling out of the sky as they had when they first met her and Knucker flashed across her mind, worry for her knew friends flooding her stomach.
"You worry too much," Knucker scolded her, his mental voice teasing, but she could feel his own slight concern underneath it. Not that he would ever admit to actually liking Kinon and Jeremy. "I would make a crack about fluffy dragons and lightening rods, but I think I'll practice the fine art of politeness. He kept his comment private, just between himself and Brianna.
"Polite my foot." Bri remarked silently.

Jeremy sighed a bit "Low flying tomorrow then." he said, attempting to keep the cheer in his voice as he put together another cracker sandwich. He chewed thoughtfully when Brianna spoke to him and then shook his head. "Nah, no need to stay here another day. We should head out as soon as possible. I don't want people snooping around and finding us and every day that we stay here is another day that we could be discovered."
'However,' Kinon said, tilting his head slightly and perking his ears forward. "If it's a bad storm then we probably should wait it out. There's no sense in risking life just to leave a day earlier." he offered his bit of wisdom. "I agree though, we should leave as soon as we possibly can." he lifted his head and looked to the entrance of the cave, whiskers quivering slightly. "Something is... off. I can't put my claw on it, but... something isn't right."

Bri frowned, butterflies jumping in her stomach. She had a bad feeling about this whole storm business. She set her bowl down, suddenly not hungry anymore. Which was probably for the best, since she'd finished her peaches.
Knucker, on the other hand, wasn't worried. "What do your spidey senses tell you? He asked Kinon, wrapping his long tail around Bri as he spoke, her worry vibrating across their mental link. "Stop that you," He scolded her privately, "You're making me nervous, and there's nothing to worry about."
Instead of answering, Bri just glared at him and shook her head, images of thunderstorms and lightening bolts flashing through her mind.
"Jeemeny Christmas, have a little faith in Kinon's flying abilities will you? They could just fly above the storm. You can dive deeper than normal humans, right? Why couldn't Jeremy go higher?" He turned his attention back to the outward conversation, and Bri sat back, relaxing a bit. Knucker had a point, she could feel smugness radiating from him. Tilting her chin up, she gave a small smile, her eyes warming. Real humble, her dragon.
Tucking her hair behind her ears she leaned in closer to Knucker, turning sideways to rest her head on one of his paws. She glanced up at the ceiling of the cave, her heart jumping. Despite the danger, she was happy they finally had a goal, somewhere to go. Florida, to find the other two. Or four, rather. She wondered what they would be like...
Absentmindedly, she licked her teeth, wrinkling her nose at the nasty aftertaste of their dinner. "Aawww man, we forgot to buy toothbrushes." She realized, frowning.

Kinon snorted in Knucker's direction. "What the heck are spidey-" but he paused, as though remembering something. "I am not a radioactive human with ridiculous powers." he said in a rather irritated voice. Jeremy choked on his peach slice and coughed, disguising his laughter as best he could. Kinon's tail flicked in annoyance. "I don't exactly know. Just something, a feeling is all." Kinon shrugged his massive shoulders and glanced out at the dark sky. He could feel the wind changing ever so slightly, moving a bit faster, swirling around. "But there will definitely be a thunderstorm tomorrow." he informed them of this again as he lowered his head, curling up around Jeremy as his human finished eating.
Jeremy gave Kinon a pat on the snout as he finished his cracker sandwhiches and peaches. "We'll be fine." he assured them. But as he glanced outside he wondered who he was trying to convince, himself or the others? He looked over at Brianna and laughed. "You mean that you forgot to buy toothbrushes." he said and he shifted to drag a bag closer to him. He pulled out two toothbrushes and smiled. "One for me and one to clean Kinon's nails." he explained and Kinon snorted, lifting one claw for inspection. "I have a bit of ligament from my last kill stuck between my fur and claw, why don't you get to work on it now? he offered with a smug look.

Bri grinned over at Jeremy, shaking her head, "Fine, be that way." She laughed at him, worries of the storm forgotten.
"Oooh, good comeback."
"Stuff it you." Bri ordered, groping blindly in the direction of her bag until she pulled out a sweatshirt, curling her legs up against her chest and pulling the sweatshirt over herself, "I'm going to sleep, you are a cruel dragon." She sighed, turning over to tuck her face into Knucker's side.
"I'm a dragon love, not a unicorn." Knucker remarked dryly, but Bri was already asleep.
He shook his head and turned to watch the storm gather outside, surveying the tossing waves critically. It would be a nice swim for him, storms were good weather to swim in, no sane humans would be out, and there wouldn't be any submarine's to avoid. Dragon hunter's wouldn't be able to pursue them in a storm, so if Kinon and Jer could avoid getting electrocuted, they were set.

Jeremy made a face at Kinon and put both toothbrushes back in the bag (seeing at Bri was already asleep). He turned to stare at the storm that was brewing. The sky turned from midnight blue to angry black. Waves crashed against the shore line, only when the first peals of thunder hit his ears and the fist flashes of lightning responded did Jeremy curl into Kinon's front paws and fall asleep.
Morning was swift in arriving, so Jeremy thought, as something shifted beneath him and he bumped onto the cold ground, effectively waking him up. Jer rubbed his eyes roughly and looked up at Kinon. Kinon's eyes were half lidded and the human couldn't help but wonder if his dragon friend had gotten any sleep last night at all. Kinon flicked blue eyes to Jeremy's face and snorted. 'Of course I slept well. If I hadn't I wouldn't have woken you up.'
"Humph. was the only reply the dragon received as Jeremy stood up and stretched sore muscles. He took a look around the cave, seeing Knucker and Brianna still in the cave, he decided that it was probably best to finish packing quickly. Jeremy set about picking up bags and going through them. Things that weren't water proofed or in a water proofed bag were quickly sealed into ziplock bags. As soon as Jeremy was done with four bags of food and various other items he started attaching them to Kinon's wings. The Dragon huffed unhappily, making his discomfort known but he sat through it. "Maybe we shouldn't fly in this weather." Jeremy found himself whispering.
Kinon's tail flicked as he thought. "Probably a good idea." he confided with Jeremy "But we can't afford to stay here another day. We have to go."
Jeremy sighed and tightened the straps on the bags. "I know. I know."
