"About three and a half months ago. Shortly after, you know. Knucker and I decided he was getting to big to stay in that little lake anymore, we stuffed him in a horse trailer I borrowed from my friend, to the great lakes and then to the ocean!" She grinned, remembering how nervous she had been driving the big truck pulling that horse trailer. Bri watched as a girl several tables over pulled on her mother's hand, giggling and pointing at a bird circling over head, the mother laughed and pulled the girl up onto her lap.
She rolled up the little paper that had been wrapped around the base of her ice cream cone and threw it towards the garbage, can, grabbing Knucker's ice cream. "Wanna go find our giant lizards?" She asked him, standing and stretching with a yawn, swinging her bag over her shoulder.
"I'll see you later Charlie!" She called to the ice cream man, heading back out towards the road.

The sky was darkening as they sat and soon the sun had set over the ocean, leaving them in the lit town. He tapped his fingers on the table and grinned at the thought of Xenis being in a horse trailer. "Interesting way of getting him across the country. Very resourceful." He stood with her and darted over to buy Kinon's rocky road ice cream cone.
He followed after her with a laugh. "I don't think Kinon or Xenis would appreciate being called giant lizards." he stated, flashing her a smile, blue eyes sparking in the artificial light that was cast by the street lights. "Where do you think they went then? They weren't going to wait at the dock were they?"
------------- Kinon had already found the freshwater inlet and had flown too it, splashing down lightly into the water, washing the salt from his pale scales and his feathered wings and tail. He sighed contentedly. Kinon stretched out to his full length, just floating on top of the water, sky blue eyes half lidded.
(Yes, he totally got money from thin air and bought the ice cream cone.)

Bri paused, frowning. "I usually just dive in and he knows where to find me..."
Her musing was interrupted by a screech as a woman came running down the street. "A Dragon! A dragon!"
"I think I found them." Bri muttered to Jeremy under her breath.
"A Dragon!" The woman passed them, sobbing, and paused, briefly, "Call the police, call the police! There's a great white dragon in the lake!" She sobbed, shaking Jeremy's shoulders for enunciation, dashing off in the direction of the police station, still screeching, spreading panic in her weak. A great many people fled after her, yelling, a great many more ran the other way, forming a very cliche angry mob as they ran up the hill towards the valley.
"Oh Flipping Flobberworms." Bri swore under her breath, taking off at a run up the hill.

He grinned at her. "Yeah that kind of happens when I fall off of things at a high altitude." he shrugs. "Kinon can find me pretty darn easily. If I take a plane he can some how figure out where I went." He mused this over with a small smile, only too jerk a bit as a person came screaming up. 'Dragon! A dragon!' the screams began to echo around town and Jeremy's eyes widened slightly as a woman shook him viciously, yelling at him to call the police. His face grew pale as they mentioned a whiteish dragon floating around.
"Oh dear.. No!" and he took off running after Bri, soon over taking her at the hill. Down below was a lake with a long pale grey figure laying out in the water. "Damn! Kinon! You idiot!" Jeremy shouted in his head, word furious, terrified as he attempted to make his legs move faster.
Kinon was dimly aware of the screams. But he hardly paid them any head, until Jeremy's voice rang angrily through his head, jerking him to full awareness. "What is the matter with you?" he snapped, blinking bleary eyes up at the hill where Jeremy's speeding form was racing down.
"They are coming! They've seen you we've got to go. You can carry two right?" "Yes. Yes. Alright." His lips lifted in a snarl of frustration as he flicked his tail and flared his wings, pumping them to dry them out and rise into the air, skimming the lakes surface to the shore.

"KNUCKER!" Bri screamed, not with her voice but with her mind.
"What happened?" She could hear the worry in his voice.
"Someone saw Kinon in the lake. They're calling the police, they'll call Dragon Hunters!" She could hear the panic in her thoughts, feel her jaw clench as it always did when she was worried. "Here's Kinon, I'll ask him to drop me over the ocean."
"I'm coming." Knucker kicked off the ocean floor, pushing faster and faster with his legs, faster than he'd ever attempted to go before.
Bri reached the top of the hill, glancing up to catch sight of Kinon, scrambling aboard as he flew past.

As Kinon shot towards them and Bri scrambled up he let loose a howling roar. Jer jumped, snagging one of the long whiskers and using momentum to swing his way on top of Kinon's head. Kinon jerked his head, swooped low over the crowd, causing them to duck as he went past, soaring up and into the night sky.
"We have to get out of here. I wanted to stay a few days, relax" he hissed under his breath as he lay low grasping a horn with his hands as he looked to Bri. He shouted over the wind. "We've got to go." he reiterated.
"Go and go fast. Let's leave now. Xenis will follow right?" He growled, swirling back and over towards the ocean.
"Nono. We have to pack. I don't have the cash on me now and I'm assuming you don't Brianna." dark eyes flashed. "We should circle." he was thinking fast, processing their problem as swiftly as he could. "Circle, drop you with Knucker and then you need to go pack. Can you do that? Pack and pack quick. If you've got a bank withdraw some cash. We're going to need it." He was shouting as best he could over the sound.
Kinon grunted as he went vertical, rising far into the cloud cover, leaving the world far behind. "Do we have the time to waste?" he voice was short and frustrated, obviously blaming himself for their current problems.

"It's not a waste." Bri said in a quiet voice, "We'll need some supplies, fresh water, Shall I grab those pink pants while I'm there?" She shot Jeremy a grin. "I'll tell Sarah I'm moving in with you, she'll buy that. Tammi will be mad, but..." Sarah closed her eyes, fighting off the guilt at the lie, and the pain she would cause Tammi, and eventually Sarah when she found that they had been ditched. "I hate lying, especially to my friends." She popped her jaw, digging her nails into her palms.
"Can't be helped though. How much money do you reckon we'll need? I traded all my American bills for British money... Where are we going? South-west I suppose." She mused aloud, answering her own questions as she desperately searched the ocean below for a sign of Knucker.

Kinon dipped down lower and lower to the crashing waves. "Xenis! Where are you!" he voice roared over the waves as he speed along, eyes narrowing in frustration. "And I suppose you are correct. You humans do need clothing. I can hunt for you though, Xenis could find fresh water. You don't have to rely solely on your packaged food stuff.
"Kinon has a point. Don't worry too much about food or water. A couple of bottles of water will do and some food that is packaged to last, canned food, dried food if you have any. I know I do. I live off the stuff." he stared at her whens he mentioned the pants and then let out a hoot of laughter. "Sure. Uhuh of course. They are the definition of stealth." he almost choked on his laughter when she mentioned her next plan. "Living with me?" he spluttered out. "Is that really. I mean will they buy that if.. I .. you. Oh geeze. Fine whatever. do it. As for money I'd say 100 pounds should be enough for now." he calculated it quickly. 100 pounds would be about $153 US dollars.
"While you pack I'll distract them from searching too far and wide for us."

Bri sighed under her breath, "If you have any better ideas, please, let me know. How else am I going to explain my sudden disappearance?" She responded to his spluttering, she couldn't see any other way out of Sarah's questions, then again, she was a terrible liar.
"I'm Here, I'm here. Keep yer shirt on!" Knucker responded to Kinon's yell. "Bri, are you allright?" He roared.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. I'm coming down!" She patted Kinon's side in warning, bringing her leg up over his side and pushing off, towards the water. Straightening in a dive, she hit the water in a flurry of bubbles, breathing easier when she felt Knucker rise up beneath her, grabbing one of his spines she felt the change of direction as he blasted towards the shore.
"Hurry. Every time I let you out of my sight you find some sort of trouble."
"I could say the same for you." She pressed her hand against his shoulder reassuringly, then, bracing her feet against his back, rocketed towards the surface. She came up near the docks, now hopping with people and whining with sirens, sprinted up the road, her wet shoes squelching against the ground, towards the apartment. Lungs burning, she flew through the door, stopping when she saw Sarah on the couch.
"Oh, hello. Listen, I've gotta go. Leave, go. I'm, uh, going on vacation with Jeremy. Very spontaneous and romantic, we have to leave now." She crossed her fingers behind her back, praying Sarah bought it.

As soon as Brianna had left, jumping from Kinon's back, Jeremy patted Kinon's head. "Kinon, circle back and let's distract that mob for a bit before they spread out and make it hard for Bri to move through town." A grunt was his only reply and the glimmer of agreement from Kinon as they turned and circled back to the lake.
The mob was there alright, in the surrounding tree's, on the hill. Sirens wailed, shouts echoed and people were flahsing lights around, holding guns and other weapons. "here we go." Jeremy hunkered down low between the horns as Kinon dove down letting out another roar. He dive bombed the first humans by the lake shore and then up he swept, tail grazing the water and spraying any humans within a ten foot radius.
Shouts, shots, chaos. Perfect. Chaos was confusion.
Sarah had been lounging on the couch, watching a show on the Television when Brianna came barging in, the door slamming. Sarah looked up in surprise, a Cheeto fell from still hands as she watched Bri rush around. "Wha?" she said intellegently. "Leaving? With Skinny boy? Are you kidding me! You're.. You! But!" Bri seemed rushed, harried, worried. "What's wrong?!" ever the good friend Sarah jumped to her feet and lurched after Bri as she rushed around.
"Did something happen? What about rent? What'll we do about that? Why are you leaving?" Bri, Sarah dimly noted, was breathing heavily, as if she had run all the way here. "Are you ok?"

Bri blinked furiously, she hadn't counted on Sarah worrying so much. "I, I'm not. Not really. I have to go, like I said. Traveling, with Jeremy." She took a deep breathe, trying to steady her heart, and reached into the fridge, dumping two water bottles, a pack of oreos and a pack of Nutri-grain bars into her water-tight knapsack. She'd bought the knapsack shortly after moving here, and didn't regret the extra money spent.
Turning to Sarah, she fought back tears, deciding honesty was always best. "I can't tell you where we're going, or why. I'll leave some money for the rent next month. I just..." Her breath caught in her throat. Get a grip on yourself! She thought furiously. You are a dragon rider, are you not? Stop acting like you're twelve. "We need to get away. Don't worry, we'll be safe." Impulsively, she gave Sarah a hug, getting water from her clothes on her friend, "You and Tammi are two of my best friends. I'll never, ever forget you."
She hurried to the closet, shoved a pair of boxers, a shirt, the pink pants, two spare sets of clothes for herself, a brush and her box of 'junk' into the bag, along with Jeremy's partially dry clothes from the balcony. She stuffed her wallet in the front pouch of the bag, thanking God that she'd just gotten payed and had the money they needed all ready. She turned to Sarah, sniffing. "Forgive me?"

Sarah was surprised at the suddenness of this situation. And was caught off guard by the hug. She patted Bri's back slightly awkwardly and tried to push her away to look her in the eyes. But her friend was off and running around, gathering items and shovign them into her pack. "I. Just like that?" she asked, deflating slightly. She might have teased Bri all the time but she cared for the girl, thought of her as a sister. And here she was just running off with some strange guy.
'forgive me?' the words struck her and Sarah blinked in surprise. "I...." What could she say. Bri was her own. She could go where she wanted, when she wanted, Sarah couldn't keep her here, no matter how worried she might become. "I... Of course I mean. But." she looked at Bri, eyes sharpening. "Just... Are you sure this is what you want? This guy, Jeremy is who you want to be with? He treats you well?" Over protective sister mode: Engaged.
The guns were a danger too them but Kinon kept moving, weaving up, down and around the people. He never lashed out at anyone, the most he did was dive bomb them and climb higher before repeating the process. "Come on. Come on. Do you think she's had enough time?" Jeremy was terse when he spoke with his mind and Kinon swirled downwards, spiraling around and around as he scared the wits out of a middle aged man throwing rocks.
Sky blue eyes roamed the crowd, always on the alert for obvious dangers, a man with a gun was brushed aside with a feathered tail and then Kinon's blue eyes alighted upon a young man who was waving his arms up and down at the pair. In fact, Kinon noted with some amusement the man even seemed to be... helping them. For the man shoved a woman with a gun pointed on Kinon and then stood over her, wrenching the gun from her grasp and throwing it away with shouted, angry words. He answered Jeremy then as he slowed down, passing the man, eyening him with one large eye, glittering with gratefulness. Then he spiraled upwards. "It will have to be enough time."

Bri smiled, knowing that somewhere outside, Jeremy was causing a diversion. They were running out of time. Somewhere under the water, Knucker was worrying and regretting his lack of wings. "I'm sure. I'm very sure. Yeah, he treats me well." The idea of him not was almost funny, a 36 foot Knucker versus all 6 feet of Jeremy? She kept her face perfectly straight. She hugged Sarah tightly, again "I love you guys." Slung the bag over her shoulder and ran from the house, as fast as she could, weaving through the throng of people towards the docks. She ducked beneath a man with a gun, saw that she wouldn't be able to get through the crowd at the docks, and ran for the wall.
"KNUCKER! THE WALL!" She yelled with her mind, and without hesitating ran for the wall, jumped up, pushed off with one foot and jumped, curling in a ball to protect the bag. She hit the water with a splash, she felt Knucker approaching, and opened her eyes, straightening out.
"Nice bag."
"Thanks, it's water proof."
"Hey Kinon! We're out!" He called to the other dragon, feeling his worry lesson significantly as Bri returned to her familiar place behind his neck.

Kinon was already winging his way through the air to the open sea when Knucker called to him. He lifted lips in a lizard smile and flicked his tail, moving gracefully through the air, circling and swirling away from the angry crowd. "You are like ants." he grumbled softly to Jeremy, though the thought was carried to Knucker as well. "Tiny human ants."
He met up with Knucker as the coast disappeared from their view. "Well that was some excitement." Jeremy called out as Kinon sloped downwards and leveled off, flying next to Knucker, the sea water splashing at his underbelly. "Why don't we find a place to rest for the night. In the morning we can head for Ireland. I can get some money and some other odds and ends that we might need." He was already ticking things off in his head. If he could manage it he'd withdraw some money and get some sleeping bags, perhaps some camping supplies.

"Huh. I kicked an anthill once, similar reaction actually." Knucker mused in response, kicking up towards the surface to glide just under the water, following Kinon's reflection above him.
"Somewhere to crash sounds nice. 'S past my bed time." Bri looped the bag around one of Knuckers back spines, pulling herself hand over hand up nearer to Knuckers head. "You can sleep up on land. We haven't done that in a while."
"I think I was about 3 feet long last time... We were watching Titanic. Which is, no matter how much you argue, still a terrible movie."
Bri gave an unladylike snort.
"Land Ho!" Knucker called, sloping upwards with the grade of the ocean floor, dragging himself up on land, swishing his tail irritably in the sand.
Bri let herself down from his back, running her fingers through her hair and removing the bag from Knucker's back, yawning widely. "Well, I'm officially a college drop out." She sighed. "Dad's gonna freak when he finds out.
Knucker snorted with dragon-ish amusement behind her.
